Henrik Fisker took to Twitter this week to preview a new luxury car in the works. The new Fisker model features butterfly doors, and unfortunately, that’s pretty much all we know right now. The famed car designer promised more details next week.
From what this image tells us, it looks like the model will receive an unusual front face with a somewhat protruding nose. A swooping roofline drops off to a short back end framed by narrow taillights. And while we’ve seen this door style before, it looks great on this model, too.
Don’t confuse this car with the Karma Revero, a model created by Karma Automotive. In 2014, Fisker Automotive, maker of the ill-fated Fisker Karma, was bought by Chinese auto parts manufactuer Wanxiang and later changed its name to Karma Automotive. It then debuted the Revero, a vehicle that looks quite similar to the old Fisker Karma, but adopted a new company logo. Henrik Fisker cut ties with the original company a long time ago, and is moving on to create his own vehicles under the new company Fisker Inc. He told Bloomberg that a “spiritual successor” to the Fisker Karma was due sometime in 2017. Yes, we realize this is all a bit confusing.
Not only did Henrik Fisker design the Fisker Karma back in the day, but he also created the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Aston Martin DB9, and BMW Z8 roadster. Currently, Henrik Fisker is involved in a number of automotive projects not limited to this new Fisker car. Earlier this year, he teamed up with Bob Lutz, former GM big-wig, and Gilbert Villarreal to create VLF Automotive. That company has created low-volume cars like the VLF Force 1.
